The goal of the GenderNet is to improve policies and practices to strengthen gender equality in development programmes and to secure girls’ and women’s rights, contributing to the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
The Network
Improves the quality, effectiveness and impacts of development co-operation by ensuring implementation match commitments to gender equality;
Provides expertise for integrating gender equality perspectives into the DAC’s work;
Shapes an international system that protects and advances girls’ and women’s rights and gender equality;
Provides members with a forum to share experiences and disseminate good practice and innovative approaches.
The Network consists of gender equality managers from the development agencies of the 32 DAC members. It also partners with observers such as UN Women and other relevant UN organisations, the World Bank, regional development banks, civil society organisations and countries that are not DAC members.
Women’s economic empowerment: Provides analysis and guidance on financing, policies, and programmes: economic access and opportunities, as well as safe and sustainable empowerment.
