1. Where can I find information about internship opportunities at the OECD Tokyo Centre? What are the requirements?

3. What language skills do I need to work at the OECD Tokyo Centre? In which language do I need to apply?

You should be fluent in English. A good command of Japanese is also required. You must fill in the application form in English.

 

4. What should I focus on in my cover letter?

You should clearly lay out your academic background and any work experience. We recommend you link this to specific OECD policy areas or projects in which you are interested and also tell us how you would benefit from interning with us and what your contribution would be. Additionally, you should explain how you have demonstrated the skills and behaviours you consider important for successful teamwork in a multicultural and international context.

 

5. What is the interview about and how can I prepare for it?

In general you will be asked about your motivation to work at the OECD Tokyo Centre as well as your knowledge of the Organisation. The interview are conducted mostly in a virtual format, which you would need to get used to in advance.

 

6. When I submit my application, is the information in my application kept confidential?

We keep all applications confidential and do not use them for any other purpose than selecting interns.

 

7. Can I volunteer for the OECD Tokyo Centre?

No, the OECD Tokyo Centre does not offer any volunteering opportunities.

8. When do I start at the OECD Tokyo Centre if I am selected?

Please consult the vacancy announcement on www.oecd.org/tokyo, where we specify the start date. Applicants are also asked to state their availability in their application.

 

9. What documents do I need to provide?

Prior to taking up duty you will have to provide:

•         A copy of your passport (with VISA, if applicable),

•         A copy of your student card (valid for the whole duration of the internship),

•         A copy of your health insurance.

•         Japanese bank account details (this can be provided once you take up duty at the OECD)

 

10. When can I consider my internship officially confirmed?

You can consider your internship confirmed as soon as you and your Sending Institution have signed the Memorandum of Agremeent (MOA) that you will receive from the Internship Office.

 

11. Are interns paid?

Interns at the OECD Tokyo Centre do not receive a salary. However, the OECD grants a contribution to living expenses.

 

12. Are interns insured?

The OECD does not insure interns. Interns will have to provide proof of medical insurance before they take up duty.

 

13. Does the OECD Tokyo Centre provide travel costs for commuting to and from the Centre for interns?

 No, the OECD does not provide or reimburse commuting costs.

 

14. What are the usual working hours for interns at the OECD Tokyo Centre?

The internship normally requires you to be in the office 40h per week / 8 hours a day and the working week is Monday to Friday. Due to Covid-19 measures, you may be asked to work from home.

 

15. Will I be hired by the OECD after my internship?

The OECD cannot guarantee that you will be hired for another position.
