The demand for cyber security professionals has increased significantly in recent years and is expected to grow, creating shortages in labour markets in several countries. Given the high costs associated with cyber threats, it is imperative that policy makers and firms have access to detailed and up-to-date information on the demand and supply of cyber security-related skills, as well as best practices from around the world. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and Microsoft have partnered together to tackle this critical issue.
This project leverages the OECD’s wide-ranging expertise to analyse the demand for cyber security roles in labour markets globally, and to identify the essential set of skills needed to create a cyber-safe organizational environment. The project is divided into three parts that use big data and policy analysis to assess the supply and demand for cyber security skills, as well as the policies and strategies used to expand and diversify the cyber security workforce.
Each of the three parts of the project focuses on different geographic areas: the first part on Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States; the second part on Colombia, Chile, and Mexico; and the third part on France, Poland, and Germany. In each part, the supply-side analysis focuses on one case study country. The findings from the three parts of the project can be found in this page which includes a global data visualisation tool and the links to the relevant analyses and reports carried out throughout the project.
