The Indicators of Regulatory Policy and Governance (iREG) present up-to-date evidence of OECD member countries’ regulatory policy and governance practices advocated in the 2012 Recommendation of the Council on Regulatory Policy and Governance.
The iREG indicators measure the three key principles of the Recommendation: |
||||||
Stakeholder engagement It helps to ensure that regulations focus on user needs by involving citizens, businesses, and civil society, makes regulations more inclusive and helps compliance with regulations. |
Regulatory impact analysis (RIA) A systemic approach to critically assessing the positive and negative effects of proposed and existing regulations - an important element of an evidence-based approach to policy making. |
Ex post evaluation
Evaluating existing regulations helps governments ensure that regulations remain fit for purpose. It can provide important insights for improving the design of regulations and promotes accountability. |
