The OECD developed the BioTrack Product Database which accommodates Unique Identifiers to each transgenic (or genetically engineered) plant that is approved for commercial use, including planting and food/feed use. These Unique Identifiers are intended to be used as "keys" to access information of each transgenic product in this database and to ensure the safety of modern biotechnology products

The OECD has set up the Surveys on Willingness-to-Pay to Avoid Negative Chemicals-Related Health Impacts (SWACHE) project to establish comparable values for the willingness-to-pay to avoid negative health effects due to exposure to chemicals. The health effects valued include asthma, infertility, IQ loss, chronic kidney disease, and very low birth weight.

Children can be more vulnerable to environmental hazards posed by chemicals, due to their physiological differences and unique behaviour. This document presents the results of a survey conducted in 2021, aiming to identify currently available methodologies for assessing the risk of chemicals to children’s health and also identify possible needs for additional or missing parameters and for further guidance documents.

As the demand for safer chemicals grows, the field of alternatives assessment is becoming increasingly important in guiding the transition towards safer, less toxic alternatives. A major limitation that can hinder efforts is the lack of consistent criteria for defining “safer" alternatives. This guidance outlines key considerations for the identification and selection of safer alternatives.
