Social Media Week took place in a number of cities from 17-21 February 2014, with the theme of “The future of now: Always on, always connected”. In this context, the conference organised by OECD and IABC France focused on the power of social media for international organisations, businesses and government agencies. The emphasis was on the best practices of social media strategies, technologies and channels. The event was free and open to the public.

Invited speakers are:   
  Anthony Gooch, Director of Public Affairs and Communications, OECD (@pitres)

Since joining the OECD in 2008, Anthony Gooch has played a key role in managing the OECD’s major international public campaigns in response to the ongoing global economic crisis and sensitive issues such as the fight against tax havens and international bribery. On the occasion of the OECD’s 50th anniversary in 2011, he pioneered the OECD Better Life Index and led efforts to overhaul the OECD’s brand and reputation. Prior to joining the OECD he headed the European Commission’s Media and Public Diplomacy operations in the US and the UK, promoting the EU's major global policy initiatives.

  Delfine Remy-Boutang, CEO of thebureau (@DelphineRB)

Delfine Remy-Boutang is the founder and CEO of the bureau, specialising in digital strategy for companies. Formerly head of social media for IBM, she was in charge of digital influence strategy and execution, and led the enablement of a successful transition towards social media as part of the marketing mix. She created the very first Digital Woman’s Day in 2013, la Journée de la femme digitale, and the second edition will be taking place on 7 March 2014 in Paris, at the Palais Brongniart.

 

Mary B. Adams, social media consultant (@LadyMissMBA)

Mary B. Adams has been fascinated with new technologies since the age of eight when she learned how to type on her Dad’s prototype Macintosh. She worked for over a decade in international marketing and sales with radio stations worldwide, before obtaining her MBA in Global Enterprise Management in 2009. Today Mary develops and implements winning marketing strategies for her clients. She is a social media communications specialist providing consulting, live events communications, training and coaching to start ups, small and large organizations around the world. She also lectures on social media content and strategy at the CELSA graduate school of media and communications of the Sorbonne. 

  Arthur Mickoleit, OECD e-gov policy analyst (http://lnkd.in/b4EcuV)

Arthur Mickoleit is a policy analyst that believes in the combined power of people, information and technology for innovation and reform. Since joining the OECD in 2007, Arthur has analysed private and public sector trends in technology use. His current focus is on social media use by governments, on quantitative analysis of government IT spending and on impacts of technology use on public administrations. Arthur helped shape the OECD's work on the role of ICTs in addressing environmental challenges, which culminated in the 2010 OECD Recommendation on ICTs and the environment. He regularly contributes to the development of specific policy guidance to member and partner countries. 

 

Estelle Loiseau, OECD Gender Programme Officer (@estelle_loiseau)

Estelle Loiseau works on gender equality and development issues at the OECD Development Centre since 2008. She manages the Wikigender platform and community and was instrumental in pioneering Wikigender as the first wiki at the OECD. Since its creation in 2008, Wikigender has become a major hub for the gender community to share information and data on gender equality. Estelle was also involved in the creation and development of Wikiprogress and Wikichild. She strongly believes in the power of wikis for collaborative action and results.

 

Yael Swerdlow, co-founder of Snapcious (@YaelSwerdlow)

Yael Swerdlow is a social entrepreneur - co-founder and CEO of Snapcious, LLC and F.8 Interactive, LLC, privately held video game companies that utilize the gamification of photography to spark societal change. She is a longtime photojournalist, having worked for the Los Angeles Times, Associated Press and International Medical Corps in Somalia, South Sudan and Rwanda. Yael is Co-Founder of the Women's Empowerment Foundation, board member of the Hadassah-Brandeis Gender Research Institute. Yael serves as a media literacy and advocacy educator for the Museum of Tolerance’s Multicultural Leadership Project and the San Diego Anti-Defamation League’s Manhigim Institute. 

 

Jerome Tomasini, Head of News & Politics, Twitter France (@jerometomasini)

JéromeTomaisini is in charge of supporting various stakeholders from the French political and news worlds, to get closer to their audience using Twitter. Jerome started his carrier in 2006 as speechwriter and digital advisor at cabinet level in various French ministries. In 2011, he joined the French presidency to handle social media communication and then became a key component of Nicolas Sarkozy's digital team during the 2012 Presidential campaign. Jerome is an alumni of Sciences Po, Paris.

 

Eileen Lee Lavergne, Vice-President, IABC France (@eleelav)

Eileen Lee Lavergne is an independent consultant specializing in marketing strategy, advocacy, change and executive communications. She draws on 16 years of international marketing and communications management experience and is today passionate about working with leaders and organizations that are innovating and investing in our sustainable future. She was most recently senior manager with Cisco’s global strategy consulting group, IBSG, for the emerging markets. Responsible for executive communications, thought leadership conversations and development, she contributed to the advocacy of broadband and information technology innovation for learning, healthcare education, cluster collaboration and smart urbanization. 

 

Florian Maganza, Senior Policy Analyst, Google (+florianmaganza)

Florian Maganza has worked for Google for 3 years, but only recently here in Paris. Previous to Google, he worked as the managing director for communications for a non-profit organisation, Young Professionals in Foreign Policy, for APCO Worldwide, and was a policy assistant in the European Parliament. He attended the London School of Economics and Political Science. Passionate about political communication, he is multilingual, and claims fluency in Klingon.

Highlights: The Power of Social Media conference, 20 February 2014

With 231 registered participants, over 200 people showed up for the conference, with a good mix of OECD staff and delegations, IABC members, companies and non-profit organisations.

It took people a while to make their way through security and down the far end of the conference hall to room 13, but thanks to Phyllis Flick and Anna Sims standing at the bottom of the escalator, no one got irretrievably lost. We scrambled to get Wisembly online, and hiccupped through sound problems, but no one seemed to notice, as most of the participants were busy chatting to their neighbours.

Dan Morrison welcomed everyone to the OECD and introduced Anthony Gooch.
