2nd LAC Regional Policy Dialogue on Environmental Sustainability

The OECD Latin America and Caribbean Regional Programme (LACRP) carried out its 2nd Regional Policy Dialogue on Environmental Sustainability, under the theme “Climate Finance and Technology Transfers for the LAC region”. The event took place on the 18th, 19th and 20th of October 2022, in a virtual format.

This Regional Policy Dialogue was an an opportunity to:

  • Discuss what kind of economic instruments are needed in the LAC region to support a green transition to net-zero GHG emissions;
  • Examine options on how countries can best align financial flows with their net-zero targets and capitalise on climate finance provided and mobilised;
  • Review challenges and conditions to enhance climate change technology transfer to the LAC region;
  • Exchange on success cases in the LAC region regarding climate finance and technological transfer to increase productivity and foster regional value chains.

Achieving environmental objectives through technological innovation and climate change mitigation technology transfers.

Background

The 2022-2023 Enhancing Green Transition in LAC project was launched in the context of the new Environmental Sustainability Priority of the LACRP with the support of the European Union. It focuses on supporting the LAC region with evidence-based analysis to address the challenges and opportunities of the Green Transition, as well as identifying policies needed to maximise the potential of this transition for greater well-being.
