The AMIS Policy Database gathers information on trade and domestic policies that are likely to impact on the prices, trade and production of the four AMIS crops (wheat, maize, rice, and soybeans) in the 28 AMIS countries.

The AMIS Policy Database has two key benefits

  1. COMPARE trade and domestic policy information across commodities and across the 28 AMIS countries
  2. TRACK the evolution of a specific policy on a specific commodity in a selected country over time

The AMIS Policy Database integrates policy information of the OECD and WTO

  • Export Restrictions

    • OECD
    • 2007
  • Import tariffs

    • WTO
    • 2010
  • Tariff quotas

    • WTO
    • 1995
  • Producer and consumer support estimates

    • OECD
    • 1986

During a rigorous harmonisation process, datasets developed by the OECD and WTO were integrated into a new comprehensive database structure: the AMIS Policy Database

The dataset on export restrictions is an original dataset developed by the OECD for AMIS. It gathers information from official legal documents, government websites and other reliable sources.

The dataset on import tariffs and tariff quotas is based on WTO Members’ annual notifications.

The dataset on producer and consumer support originates from OECD’s Producer and Consumer Support Estimates database.

How policies are categorised in the AMIS Policy Database

The classification of policies follows a hierarchical structure

  • At a first level, the policy domain is identified. The policy domain is either trade or domestic.
  • Then, for each policy domain, there is a set of policy types.
  • Finally, each policy type consists of a set of policy measures.
