"The 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals clearly recognise the central role of terrestrial and marine biodiversity for human wellbeing. The OECD has been working on the economics of biodiversity since 1993, supporting governments to develop better biodiversity policies for better lives. We look forward to supporting global multilateral efforts to reverse  the decline of global biodiversity, especially the discussions on the 2011-2020 Aichi Biodiversity Targets under the Convention on Biological Diversity, and on SDGs 14 and 15 on ‘Life under Water’ and ‘Life on Land’."

Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD

Workshop on Biodiversity, Climate Change and Agriculture

Cows grazing near conifer forest in mountains. Lovely rural landscape in Summer - Biodiversity Workshop 25 October 2017:

The OECD Workshop on Biodiversity, Climate Change and Agriculture: Towards Coherent Approaches, held on 25 October 2017 at the OECD Paris, examined how to consider, in a coherent manner, two environmental challenges - biodiversity loss and climate change and the inter-relationships with agricultural productivity.

Drawing on insights from a range of OECD countries, the aim was to share experiences, challenges and good practice insights to improve alignment and effectiveness of policies across these three areas.
