The Regional Meeting on Private Sector Participation (PSP) in the Water Supply and Sanitation (WSS) in EECCA too place on 28-29 January, 2010 in Moscow.

 

The main objective of the meeting was to attract the attention of key stakeholders, foremost EECCA policy-makers, to international “good practices” and tools that can help countries to assess and improve their legal and institutional frameworks for PSP in the water and sanitation sector, and to discuss the reforms that could help to improve the framework for PSP.

 

The target audience and invitees were mainly national and local level policy makers from the EECCA region (typically, from Ministries, national development institutions and municipalities involved in PSP in WSS) and selected domestic private operators (POs), as well as international operators working in the region or interested to enter the market. Representatives from NGOs active in the WSS sector in the region also participated.

 

From the international side, representatives from the OECD & WB, regional development banks operating in the EECCA countries (the European and Asian Development banks, EBRD and ADB), EIB, UNDP, and UNECE were invited to attend the event.
