Independent Evaluation of the Accountability in Tanzania Programme (AcT)
Overall, the AcT programme is well set up to address contextual factors, and to identify, analyse and learn from accountability and responsiveness challenges. This is facilitated by the AcT model, including the management approach and the tools that are promoted, but there are missed opportunities to link with other DFID accountability programmes particularly in shared areas of work and interest, and at key moments and opportunities.

Gender sense & sensitivity – Policy evaluation on women’s rights and gender equality 2007-2014
The evaluation found that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has struggled with mainstreaming the equal rights for women and men principle into development aid policies. The report calls for increasing gender sensitivity, for analysing women’s specific constraints, needs and priorities. It underlines the importance of a long-term commitment to gender equality coupled with a sensible dose of realism on what effectively can be accomplished.

Evaluation of local integration
Refugees in Cameroon, Tanzania, and Zambia have experienced considerable success in local integration. In all three countries, economic integration has been reached as defined by refugees achieving self-reliance and a standard of living similar to the host community. The successes have been the result of a combination of factors including host governments providing fertile land, UNHCR and partner governments.

Final Evaluation Report on Refugee Local Integration in Cameroon, Tanzania, and Zambia
This evaluation identifies best practices in promoting local integration of refugee populations. In all three countries, economic integration has been reached as defined by refugees achieving self-reliance and a standard of living similar to the host community. The successes are the result of: host governments providing fertile land, agricultural inputs, and the refugees’ willingness to integrate with their host community.
