07/11/2007 - Governments and business have made some progress in their fight against corruption since the 1997 signing of the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention. But is it enough? Is the political commitment expressed by governments being followed up by action?

These are among the questions to be discussed at a High Level Conference in Rome on 21 November 2007 to mark the tenth anniversary of the adoption of the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention.

The event - The Tenth Anniversary of the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention - its Impact and Achievements - is open to the media and will end with a news conference. It will take place at the Scuola Superiore di Polizia, 3 Via Pier della Francesca, Rome 00196, and will begin at 09.30.

OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría, Prime Minister Romano Prodi and Justice Minister Clemente Mastella will attend the event and host the news conference at 13.00.

Ministers and High Level representatives from the 37 signatory countries to the Convention, together with international experts and representatives from emerging economies, including China, India, Indonesia, Israel and Russia, will participate.

Journalists are also invited to attend a meeting of experts that will follow the news conference. Under the chairship of Professor Mark Pieth, Chairman of the OECD Working Group on Bribery, and Professor Maris Gavounelli, Vice-Chair of the Working Group, participants will discuss ways to improve international co-operation, both between signatory countries and with emerging economic players, such as China, India and Russia.
