8/11/2016 - The first OECD Economic Assessment of Malaysia, to be published on Friday 11 November, analyses the country’s rapid economic growth since the 1970s, its more recent resilience in the face of severe global headwinds, as well as steps that can be taken to ensure stronger and more inclusive growth in the future. The Economic Assessment discusses how stepping up structural reforms to increase productivity and inclusiveness would improve the sustainability of growth over the medium term and help Malaysia achieve its objective of becoming a high-income country around 2020.
The OECD will also present a new Review of Innovation Policy of Malaysia, which provides a comprehensive assessment of the country’s innovation system, focusing on the role of government. The Review provides concrete recommendations on how to improve policies which affect innovation performance, including business support policies, policies related to higher education institutions and human resources for innovation, and the coordination of policies in this area.
OECD Deputy Secretary General Rintaro Tamaki will present both reports with Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia, during an event on Friday 11 November starting at 15h (07:00 GMT) at the Ministry of Finance ( Centre Block, No.5 Persiaran Perdana, Precinct 2, 62592 Putrajaya, Malaysia).
The two reports will be available to registered journalists on the OECD's password-protected website at 7:00 GMT for immediate release. Create your MyOECD account here.
