Internet Access Service – Terms of Use

1. INTRODUCTION

OECD Internet access service ("the Service") is a free service you can use to access the web, e-mail, or your own networks using a VPN connection. Access to the service is provided through wired (LAN) or wireless (Wi-Fi) technology. This Service is provided by the OECD on an “as is” basis, without any warranties or guarantees. In particular, the OECD does not guarantee any performance level, security or availability of the Service. The OECD reserves the right to modify, replace or discontinue the Service at any time.

By using this Service, you agree to the following terms and conditions of use ("Terms of Use").

2. SECURITY

You expressly acknowledge and agree that there are significant security, privacy and confidentiality risks inherent in accessing or transmitting information through the Internet and that you use the Service at your sole risk. These security issues include, but are not limited to, interception of transmissions, loss of data, or the introduction of viruses or other software that can damage your computer or network.

3. PRIVACY

You should be aware that the Organisation reserves the right, subject to relevant OECD rules and policies, to collect and disclose data related to your use of the Service, for system performance, auditing, security or for investigation, including evidence of unlawful activity or violation of these Terms of Use.

When you connect to the Service an internal Internet Protocol (IP) address is assigned to you and associated with the Media Access Control (MAC) address of your device. This data is collected with metadata (the date and time of connection/disconnection). The OECD cannot link this information to a specific user or individual. The data is only used to enable the provision and management of the Service. Access is limited to appropriate OECD staff, and our standard log retention policy is one (1) year. Under the Rules, you have rights to access and rectify your personal data, as well as to object to its processing, and request erasure in certain circumstances. To exercise these rights in connection with the use of this Service please contact wifi-feedback@oecd.org.

If you have further queries or complaints related to the processing of your personal data, please contact the Data Protection Officer. If you need further assistance in resolving claims related to personal data protection you can contact the Data Protection Commissioner.

4. RESTRICTIONS ON USE

You agree not to use the Service to:

(a) transmit any material that is unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, libellous, invasive of another's privacy, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable;

(b) harm, or attempt to harm, minors in any way;

(c) impersonate any person or entity or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity; forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any material transmitted through the Service;

(d) transmit any material that you do not have a right to make available under any law;

(e) transmit any material that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights of any party;

(f) transmit any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising, promotional materials, "junk mail," "spam," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes" or any other form of solicitation;

(g) transmit any material that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment; or

(h) use the Services for excessively high volume data transfers.

5. TERMINATION

If at any time the OECD has reasons to believe that the Service is being used improperly, we may discontinue it without prior notice or take any other action that the OECD considers appropriate.

6. GENERAL DISCLAIMER AND INDEMNITY

Under no circumstances shall the OECD be liable to you or any other person or entity for any loss, damage, liability or expense suffered which is claimed to result from, or be in any manner in connection with, the use of the Service, including without limitation, any fault, error, omission, interruption or delay. You agree to indemnify and hold the OECD harmless from any claims which may arise from third parties as a result of, or in connection with, your use of the Service.
