The aim of this webpage is to give an overview of existing guidance and test guidelines from the OECD or other sources to address specific data requirements for the submission and evaluation of microbial pesticide test data. While the number of documents, from different sources, directly or indirectly related to guidance on the evaluation of microbial pesticides, is proliferating, the information is fragmented and hard to find.
This webpage is expected to make the information available, structured and more accessible to regulators. Based on the findings across the guidance landscape, this effort may inform the development of further guidance or tools. In particular, the recommendation and follow-up projects that came out from the OECD Conference on Innovating Microbial Pesticide Testing organised in 2022, are expected to lead to regular updates of the webpage.
To develop this webpage, the table published in the Report of a Survey on the Need for Further Guidance on Data Requirements and Updated Test Guidelines to Support the Assessment of Microbial Pesticides was used as a base to map and summarise the current status of publications, guidance documents and test guidelines. In many occasions, OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals are listed and the reader is advised to consult the Report of the Survey and the Seminar Report to better understand the limitations of these test guidelines that were primarily developed to test chemicals. It is worth noting that there are ongoing efforts at the OECD to improve and innovate the testing paradigm for microbials and that this webpage will be updated as soon as new test methods or adapted methods for microbials become available.
More information about the regulatory approaches for registering and evaluating microbial pesticides in OECD member countries can be found below together with criteria for using scientific publications to address data requirements.

CRITERIA FOR USING SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS TO ADDRESS DATA REQUIREMENTS
This document lists a number of Guidance/Criteria for using scientific literature to support Human Health and Environmental Risk Assessment that is used by OECD member countries. In addition, a list of guiding principles and guidance on weight of evidence (WoE) approaches are provided.
