Managing Shocks and Transitions – Future Proofing SME and Entrepreneurship Policies

On 27-28 June 2023, Ministers from OECD countries and invited non-OECD economies, alongside partner International Organisations and experts, gathered at the OECD Headquarters in Paris for the first meeting of the OECD Committee on SMEs and Entrepreneurship (CSMEE) at Ministerial Level (Ministerial Meeting). Convened by the OECD, the Ministerial Meeting was chaired by New Zealand with the active support of Switzerland, France, and guidance from CSMEE Bureau members (Canada, Italy, Japan, Portugal, Republic of Türkiye, United Kingdom). It coincided with the United Nations Micro Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (MSME) Day and thus strengthened momentum of global discussions about the crucial importance of SMEs and entrepreneurs for the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

SME and Entrepreneurship Stakeholder Dialogue
26 June 2023

In preparation for the OECD SME and Entrepreneurship Ministerial Meeting, this event aims to explore the private sector’s role in the context of the overarching theme of the ministerial, Managing the Shocks and Transitions – Future-Proofing SME and Entrepreneurship Policies. It will be an opportunity to assess the current situation of SMEs and entrepreneurship, to identify main business priorities, opportunities and challenges, to engage in a dialogue with selected Ministers, and to explore a joint agenda for action. Discussions will help set the scene for the Ministerial meeting.
