Presentation of the Latin American Economic Outlook 2009 in Madrid

The Latin American Economic Outlook 2009  was presented in Madrid on 18 November 2008, at a seminar hosted by Casa de América. This is the second year that the Spanish presentation of the report took place in this well-known Madrid venue.

Spanish Secretary of State for Co-operation and Development, Soraya Rodríguez, opened the seminar highlighting the contribution that the Latin American Economic Outlook 2009 makes to policymaking by drawing attention to the development dimension of fiscal policy. In his presentation of the Outlook's main recommendations, OECD Development Centre Director Javier Santiso pointed out that fiscal policy should be a key instrument for  promoting economic growth, reducing inequality and fostering democratic consolidation in Latin America. Two panels elaborated on the Latin American Economic Outlook 2009 main findings, one focused on public policymaking, and the second one analysing the public sector's contribution to development in the region.

Presentations
