The Trento workshop focussed on partnerships (public-private and private-private) for the development and diffusion of innovation. A specific focus was devoted to drawing lessons from business and territorial case-studies, with a view to their general applicability for local innovation policies. The seminar considered, with a policy-oriented perspective, the interactions between innovation and social capital for local knowledge-based capacity development.
The workshop included presentations from business practitioners, academics and government policy advisers with first-hand experience in relation to partnerships for innovation. Ample time was reserved for discussion and exchanges of views in order to explore the various dimensions of partnership. Through identification of the key aspects of partnership for innovation, the workshop aimed to contribute to the preparations for the proposed OECD Innovation Strategy work module on fostering non-technological innovation.
