Since the G20 declared the end of banking secrecy in 2009, the international community has achieved great success in the fight against offshore tax evasion. Working through the Global Forum, countries have implemented robust standards that have prompted an unprecedented level of transparency in tax matters.
Voluntary disclosure programmes, offshore tax investigations and related measures have generated EUR 114 billion in additional revenues so far.
Our members have received over 370 000 requests for information since 2009, enabling the identification or collection of at least EUR 11 billion in additional tax.
Information on 111 million financial accounts, covering total assets of nearly EUR 11 trillion, was automatically exchanged in 2021.
