OECD Report on SDG Budgeting in Romania

Bucharest, 21 September 2020

The Romanian Government has been strengthening its policy planning process in recent years. Building on this, the Government of Romania asked the OECD to assist in developing its capacity to link policy planning and budgeting to support the implementation of the SDGs (referred to as “SDG budgeting”).

The Report on SDG Budgeting in Romania sets out recommendations for implementation of SDG budgeting in the context of the current budget framework in Romania, and emphasises aspects of the budget framework which could be strengthened in order to develop a more sophisticated approach.

This Report is undertaken in parallel with an OECD Scan of Institutional Mechanisms to Deliver on the SDGs. The concurrent approach ensures that our recommendations build on a solid understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the institutional framework in Romania.
