The Budget Review of Greece presents and assesses reforms and innovations introduced over the last decade against the OECD Recommendation of the Council on Budgetary Governance.
This report finds that while Greece's fiscal and budgetary reforms have introduced clarity and rigour into fiscal policy making, some crucial reforms need to be delivered quickly to consolidate the results already achieved.
The review also provides recommendations on priority areas for further budgetary reforms, as Greece exits the EU Adjustment Programme. These recommendations are based on the experiences and lessons learned by the peer review countries, some of which also experienced severe economic and fiscal crises in the past. The report has also benefited from the input of think tanks, academics and civil society.
The Budget Review of Greece was published in the OECD's Journal on Budgeting (Volume 19, Issue 3). Published three times per year, The OECD Journal on Budgeting provides insight on leading-edge institutional arrangements, systems and instruments for the allocation and management of resources in the public sector.
