Key messages
- The case study on competition law enforcement shows a growing trend in co-operation among competition authorities. In 2021 the OECD documented 206 bilateral agreements, a steep increase from having 87 a decade before. However, challenges remain ahead, such as exchange of confidential information, countries having different types of legal regimes, and lack of trust.
- The OECD’s Environment, Health, and Safety Programme has been working for 50 years, to harmonise chemical safety tools and policies across jurisdictions. The Mutual Acceptance of Data system has allowed governments to trust the test results of international peers, and collectively save EUR 309.5 million on a yearly basis.
