ROUND-TABLE: Fulfilling the potential of Cultural and Creative Industries -Reinforcing linkages and spill overs (Milan, Italy)

ArtLab17

Milan, Italy, 22-23 June 2017

ArtLab was set up in 2006 in Turin by Fondazione Fitzcarraldo. Over the years, it has grown into the most inspiring and powerful, cross sectorial, independent platform in Italy, dedicated to innovating practices and policies in and through arts and culture by a structured dialogue among the stakeholders of the cultural and creative ecosystem.

ArtLab is a learning environment where cultural and creative professionals, the civil society, the corporations, the service agencies and policy makers share experiences and knowledge on how art and culture contribute to wellbeing as well as to economic and social growth: a unique opportunity to networking, sharing, searching for partners, nurturing ideas, compare programmes and projects.

The OECD LEED Trento Centre organised a round-table session on:

Fulfilling the potential of Cultural and Creative Industries: reinforcing linkages and spill overs

Friday 23 June 2017 from 11.00 to 13.00

BASE Milano, Via Bergognone 34, Milan, Italy

Rationale In the framework of the project Fulfilling the potential  for  Cultural and Creative Industries, the OECD has undertaken a review on CCIs in North East Italy, which illustrates the relevance of places and the tendency for CCI firms, mainly micro firms and SMEs,  to locate where established sectoral agglomerations already exist. Cross-sectoral linkages are a defining character of CCIs, and the review suggests integration and horizontal relationships of cultural and creative activities with, design, artisans, traditional manufacturing, industry and the professional world.

The round table discussed the challenges faced by policy makers in, on the one hand, identifying and supporting existing agglomerations, such as through skills and infrastructure development, and, on the other hand, facilitating the creation of new linkages enabling CCIs to thrive and interact with “traditional” companies.
