Activities and associations

ALORA

ALORA is an association with over 2,000 members that brings together active and retired OECD staff, the staff of member country delegations to the OECD and the families of both. ALORA offers cultural, learning, social and sports activities. Activities include football tournaments, cheese and wine tasting, musical shows, museum visits, gym classes, summer party and book clubs.

The OECD Staff Association

The OECD has a Staff Association, which is the only statutory body in the Organisation to represent all OECD staff. While its main purpose is to defend the professional interests and improve the employment conditions of all members of staff, it also seeks to inform, advise and assist staff, regardless of their status, category or the duration of their contract.

The Staff Association is consulted on any planned modifications or amendments to employment conditions and it is also a driving force behind many proposals aimed at strengthening the rights of staff. In addition, it offers legal counselling to its members and can assist them in the event of a referral to an internal appeal body.

Dialogue on Inclusion, Cultural Diversity and Equity

DICE (Dialogue on Inclusion, Cultural Diversity and Equity) is an open and informal platform with the objective to represent the interests of diverse multicultural communities within the OECD, and promote the benefits of having a diverse workforce. The group intends to serve as a vehicle to promote a broader conversation and address the various implicit and explicit biases, or discriminations against ethnic minorities working in the OECD.

GLOBE

GLOBE, founded in 2001 at the OECD, works for an inclusive working environment, where all sexual orientations and gender identities are welcome. GLOBE engages with other associations in Paris and beyond. Members take part in regular meetings and social and cultural events, including Paris Pride.

Intern Circle

The Intern Circle is a voluntary body, founded and run by interns, whose main purpose is to identify and address the interests of OECD Interns in order to maximise their internship experience. The initiative also organises knowledge-sharing and networking events to help promote interns’ social and professional growth.

Parenthood Group

The OECD Group on Parenthood gathers together staff and other relevant stakeholders interested in improving the working conditions for staff with children. The Group encourages an open and constructive dialogue around parenthood issues and respective challenges.

Temporary Staff Network (TSN)

The Temporary Staff Network (TSN) is a network of people who are engaged for the community of temporary staff at the OECD. The Network provides a platform for Temporary Staff members to exchange, socialise and grow

Women’s Network

The OECD Women’s Network is a community that aims to cultivate gender equality across the Organisation by sharing information and providing opportunities to connect OECD women at all levels. It organises activities such as an annual meeting, lunches with women in OECD leadership positions, speed-networking events, an informal mentoring programme and events with external speakers.‌

Paris, France

As the OECD headquarters are located in Paris, most employees live in the “City of Lights”. In addition to the rich cultural heritage and diverse population, the capital of France has much to offer by way of international sporting and cultural events. The city is split into 20 ‘arrondissements’, each with their own character, and all connected by a vast network of affordable public transportation options. The two OECD offices in Paris are easily accessible. Additionally, Paris has two international airports and several train stations connecting the city to the rest of France, Europe and the world.

The OECD also has Centres in other locations.

Life at the OECD

The OECD offers a wide variety of activities to promote staff health and wellbeing, including pilates, osteopathy and reflexology. Staff may also consult with social advisers and onsite medical personnel. Staff can benefit from the onsite gym and fitness facilities allowing easy access to affordable exercise and fitness classes.
